At The Grove, we are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based counselling that supports individuals in cultivating resilience, self-awareness, and lasting growth. Our office is located in Markham, near hwy 7 and Ninth Line. We also provide virtual counselling via secure video platform or telephone.
We recognize that healing and growth are most effective when both the body and mind are engaged in the therapeutic process. From a top-down perspective, we integrate cognitive, emotion and mindfulness-based strategies to help clients reframe thoughts, transform emotion, build awareness, and cultivate self-compassion. Simultaneously, we employ bottom-up methods such as breathwork, movement, and grounding resources to support regulation directly through the body. This integrated framework allows us to meet clients where they are, fostering a sense of safety and empowering them to reconnect with their innate capacity for resilience and self-regulation, leading to neuroplastic change.

Emotion Focused Family Therapy: a deep value for Emotion Theory and the family system inform our care, working towards building integrated and rich relationships that heal. ​​

Nervous System Informed: Polyvagal Theory helps us understand how safety, connection, and regulation are rooted in the nervous system, guiding our use of both top-down and bottom-up approaches.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)-Informed:
We view each person as having a complex inner landscape, made up of different "parts" that carry emotions, beliefs, and protective roles. By helping clients build compassionate relationships with these parts, we support healing, self-leadership, and a deeper connection to their authentic selves. -
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT):
Through ACT, we guide clients in embracing their thoughts and feelings without being overwhelmed by them. By focusing on values-driven living, clients learn to take meaningful actions even in the presence of difficult emotions, creating a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. -
Mindfulness Approaches:
Mindfulness is at the heart of many of our practices, encouraging present-moment awareness and self-compassion. By cultivating mindfulness, clients gain tools to manage stress, improve emotional regulation, and deepen their connection to themselves and others. -
